AMAR Group LLC takes pride in the fact that it offers each of its Washington based architects regular training and information sessions so our Washington architects are equipped with the very latest architectural methods and design options available. Genell V. Anderson

Ms. Anderson is the Founder and Owner of AMAR Group, LLC. She started the Organization 30 years ago and has committed those years to ensure the success of her business. Ms. Anderson has 37 years of experience as an architect in the industry. She is registered in DC, Maryland, Virginia and South Carolina. Ms. Anderson is an outstanding woman who wears many hats. She is also an ICC Certified Building and Plumbing inspector for AMAR Group, LLC.  As Principal Designer and Lead Inspector, her experience includes: assessments, feasibility studies and inspections of new and existing structures; construction management; renovation; adaptive-reuse and new building design for educational, recreational, residential and commercial building types. Ms. Anderson has also received the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation. Genell is also a board member of the Parks at Main Street (TPMS), that serves Manor Park and Riggs Park communities.

Taylora Imes-Thomas

Ms. Imes- Thomas has 26 years of experience as a project manager. At AMAR Group she is responsible for project management, schedule control, consultant coordination, and client coordination of projects. She has interdisciplinary expertise that has allowed her to work in several for profit, non-profit, and various government agencies. Her experience includes:  needs assessments, accessibility review, feasibility studies, design development, schematic design, construction documentation, permitting and construction administration.  Programs:  BIM Revit modelling, InDesign, PhotoShop, and Microstation SE. 

Prior to AMAR Group, Ms. Imes-Thomas worked for 18 years at Torti Gallas in which she specialized in publicly-funded multifamily housing.  She served as an Executive Appointee to the Inclusionary Housing Board in Baltimore city (2019-2020).

Milton L. Evering

Quality Control Manager, Civil Engineer

Howard University School of Engineering, Washington, DC | Cum Laude Algonquin College, Ottawa, Canada | AA Civil Technology

Mr. Evering has 36 years of experience being a civil engineer and quality control manager. He is registered as a professional engineer in DC, MD, and VA. He has spent 27 of those years with AMAR Group, LLC. Mr. Evering is certified by the National Bridge Inspection Program (through FHWA).  His experience includes road and bridge construction, inspection of concrete, reinforcing steel, placement of engineered fill, piles placement, caisson, guardrail installation, sound wall installation, sediment and erosion control, construction of stormwater management ponds, maintenance of traffic in work zones, construction and maintenance of cofferdams for bridge construction, and railroad track construction. Mr. Evering has designed drainage systems and performed site surveys.  Mr. Evering has served as a consultant to FEMA and USAID with experience in design, inspection and estimating the cost to return sites and structures to pre-disaster conditions. 

Cynthia Johnson

Senior Architect - Project Manager

Howard University School of Architecture

Ms. Johnson is a Senior Architect, Project Manager, at AMAR Group LLC. She has served as Senior Project Manager for several firms throughout the Washington Metropolitan area, over the course of the past 46 years. Her experience includes preparing program analysis, code analysis, construction documents and specifications for new construction, tenant layouts, additions and alterations for tenant layouts, restaurants, patient healthcare, multi and single-family residential projects.

Ms. Johnson’s experience includes the design, preparation of construction documents, permitting and construction management for the Permit and Business Center at the former Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. She also served as Structural Plan Reviewer in the Building and Land Regulations Permit Processing Center.

Miriam Frank

Architectural Designer

Miriam joined AMAR Group in 2022 with more than 15 years of residential and commercial architecture experience. She enjoys the challenge of renovating existing buildings, appreciates all architectural styles and desires to be heavily involved in the construction process.

Her previous experience working on projects with aggressive schedule has taught her to be detailed oriented, organized, and proactive. Miriam sees every new project as an opportunity to meet and learn from new people.

When not working, she enjoys hiking, traveling, volunteering, home remodeling and spending time with family and friends.

Leslie

Business Operations Manager

Trinity University | Master of Business Administration

Leslie came to us after working as the Business Manager for The A.R.T. Institute of Washington, Inc. which provided assisted reproductive care to military families. Leslie is a native Washingtonian and received her B.S. in Biology and her MBA in Business Administration from Trinity University. She is excited to join the AMAR Group LLC team!

Eric Grant

Designer

Eric is a dynamic and ambitious designer with 8 years experience in the drawing of various residential projects, commercial buildings, millwork, and door designs. He developed his keen sense of engineering methods and gained skills by working for an engineering firm with the different professions. Since attending the Boston Architectural College, he has worked in a couple of design companies. Eric is a hard worker and easily comprehends new tasks. He possesses impeccable technical and computer skills with advanced knowledge of Auto CAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Lumion, Sketch Up, Adobe software and other graphics communication programs.

Administrative Assistant

I am the new administrative assistant with AMAR Group LLC. I am a DC native, currently attending University of the District of Columbia. I plan to graduate with my bachelor’s degree by fall 2023. I really enjoy social events and cooking. I am also big on family and friendships. I value hard work as well as time management. I hope to be a pleasant addition to the team. I am happy to be here and excited to get to know all of you!

Rashawna Williams

Third Party Inspection Manager

South Carolina State University, Columbia, South Carolina | Bachelor of Science

Ms. Williams has 6 years of experience in business administration and human resources. At AMAR Group, Ms. Williams is responsible for managing the 3rd party inspection department. She coordinates inspection requests, pulls permit authorizations to inspect, and creates certificates for approved 3rd party inspections. She also submits all inspection results to DCRA and administer gas tags to clients for approved gas inspections. Ms. Williams is also responsible for implementing and staying abreast of all 3rd party inspection policy updates from DCRA.  Lastly, Ms. Williams enjoys marketing for AMAR Group, LLC.

January Newsletter 2022: Happy New Year!

ARHA retained AMAR Group in June 2021 as Project Managers for a fast-track renovation of 38 Park Place and 5 Saxony Square units to create market-rate quality with a 20-year viability. AMAR served as Construction Managers for ARHA’s repositioning strategy under HUD Section 18 qualification. The project consisted of level 2 renovation of all units, phasing and resident relocation during construction. Our team developed a Scope of Work, specifications and material boards using ARHA’s vendors to ensure product delivery during construction.
